New Mangocam proxy version released

Posted: 13 Dec 2019 We have released a new Mangocam proxy version (1.1) - which can be downloaded here. Apart from improved stability this release allows you to change the web listening port (to avoid conflicts with other software or to run multiple instances on the same computer) and also allows you to increase the maximum number of connections (from the default of 16). Furthermore there is now also a 64 bit ARM version available.

Updated disk space calculation

Posted: 6 Dec 2019 Disk space is used for jpg snapshots taken from the video stream (or received directly from jpg and mjpg cameras) and for storing raw MPEG4, H.264 and HEVC video and audio data (if any). We have now updated the calculation for all users on our dashboard to include both JPG and RAW disk space usage (as opposed to only show the JPG usage) - and the stats page includes both types separately for each camera as reference. JPG storage use can be reduced by lowering the snapshot frame rate or reducing image resolution. Raw storage use is only relevant for RTSP / H.264 cameras and mainly depends on the video bandwidth - which can be reduced directly on your camera and it can also be turned off completely under advanced settings for each camera in Mangocam (then only jpg snapshots are stored and can be viewed / downloaded).

Mangocam now supports HTTPS access (via SSL/TLS) for MJPEG and JPEG snapshot cameras

Posted: 16 October 2015 We now support HTTPS access to IP cameras that support SSL / TLS encryption (like Foscam HD cameras). There is a new option in the camera configuration menu that will allow you to enable SSL for your camera (if supported). This is an advanced option and will require you to change / add port forwarding rules on your modem / router. RTSP over SSL/TLS is not currently supported as not many camera manufacturers offer this feature, however the RTSP authentication is much more secure compared to the HTTP basic auth or supplying credentials via access URLs.

Please also keep in mind that Windows 10 also comes with the Internet Explorer installed by default, so this can be used as fallback if required.

New Foscam HD / Full HD camera models supported

Posted: 24 August 2015 We have added support for the new Foscam models FI9900P, FI9815P, FI9816P, FI9803EP, FI9853EP and FI9851P in direct stream mode (RTSP / H.264) for both the Sub and Main streams. Please be aware that some Foscam models use the HTTP port (88/tcp by default) for RTSP and some models use the RTSP port 554/tcp instead. If there is a dedicated RTSP port visible under Settings > Network > Port, then this port needs to be forwarded in your modem / router instead of the HTTP port.

Also some cameras only allow a very low resolution (less than 480p) via the Sub stream (/videoSub), in which case the Main stream (/videoMain) is a better option for Mangocam - however the bandwidth and frame rate settings should be adjusted accordingly. The video settings can be configured in your camera's Settings > Video > Video Settings menu.

Recordings split interval adjustable

Posted: 24 August 2015 The interval to split long 24h recordings into smaller chunks for easy viewing and downloading can now be selected / adjusted from the user settings page. The default value is 8 hours, the minimum time interval is 5 minutes and the maximum is 24 hours.

Motion detection mask invert option

Posted: 21 August 2015 Mangocam now allows the motion detection mask to be inverted - to either select a rectangular section of the image to be ignored from motion detection or to just perform motion detection on the masked area. To ensure that the area for detection is not too small, a limit of 1/4 is now enforced on our web interface.

Most current HD cameras and NVRs are compatible with the ONVIF standard.

Support for sub user accounts

This parameter requires a stop and start of running camera tasks to take effect.

Added an undelete option for recordings

Posted: 25 October 2013 We have added an option to undelete recordings that have been manually (accidentally perhaps) deleted. Once the video data has been marked for deletion, it may still be on disk for up to one hour. Added more production nodes to our server farm and added servers page

Posted: 1 August 2013 Since we are continually adding and removing nodes, we are changing the notification procedure. A current list of hosts / source IPs used to access your cameras can be obtained here. There won't be any more tweets or updates on this page about this. Instead, please check the servers page at regular intervals using a suitable notification mode (www.changedetection.com or similar). Your cameras will start on a different node every time, so chances are the recording will still work (after a few retries) if some of our hosts are blocked by your filter rules.

Also new is an option for the schedules to disable alerting but still retain motion events.
